Asgent Opens Online Store for Image Backup Software “ShadowProtect”

Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions, announces the opening of the official online store and start of download sales for image backup software “ShadowProtect”, targeting SOHO and small to medium business (SMB) customers.

ShadowProtect is an image-based backup software solution that creates a backup of the entire system, including the OS, applications, data etc. Using built-in HIR functionality, it is possible to restore a system to different hardware models, as well as migrating physical servers to virtual environments and virtual machines to physical servers.

The impact of data loss within SOHO and SMB environments is very large, and the importance of data backup is now recognized more widely than ever. In spring of this year, Asgent began online and retail sales of the package edition “ShadowProtect Personal” (Distributor: Cyberfront Corporation), targeted at business individuals.

However, an increase in inquiries from SOHO and SMB customers who have little contact with system resellers or SIers, as well as strong demand for download sales of the server backup product “Server Edition”, led to the decision to open an official online store and begin download sales of both desktop and server backup products to business customers.

This online store enables SOHO and SMB customers who have no other purchase route with resellers to purchase “ShadowProtect” and begin backing up their important data.

The products available from the official ShadowProtect online store are the Desktop Edition, Server Edition and Small Business Server Edition. All three products have the same functionality and maintenance/support as licensed versions purchased through a reseller.

Asgent projects sales from the online store to reach of 100 million Yen over the next three years.

【Product Outline】

ShadowProtect is an image-based backup software solution that creates a backup of the entire system, including the OS, applications, data etc. The image backup engine transfers and saves disk data in the original bit-string format rather than as individual files, so it is possible to recover a system quickly and reliably simply by restoring the disk to its original state. It is also possible to restore a system to different hardware models, virtual environments, from a physical server to a virtual server (P2V) and between virtual servers (V2V), as well as from a virtual server to a physical server (V2P).
