Asgent Announces Support for Large Enterprise Users for M@gicPolicyCoSMO, ISMS Establishment and Management Tool

Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions announces the latest version of M@gicPolicyCoSMO, an ISMS establishing and managing tool, which Asgent develops and distributes, with support for integration into large enterprises and optimization for certification reviews.

【Issues faced with maintaining ISMS certification】

In the 7 years since the formulation of ISO/IEC　27001：2005, the standard on which ISMS (Information Security Management System) is based, over 4000 organizations in Japan have acquired ISMS certification.

However, just as the number of ISMS certified organizations has grown, so has the number being faced with the issue of how to streamline both maintaining and putting the certification into practice. In particular, organizations with wide scale implementation of ISMS have to manage massive amounts of documents and records related to information asset ledgers, risk assessment, internal audits and management reviews etc. As a result, there is a serious problem of how to reduce the burden on personnel in charge of information security management within the organization who have their hands full with maintaining and organizing records, making it difficult to implement new security measures or provide training to employees.

【Streamline ISMS with M@gicPolicyCoSMO】

“M@gicPolicyCoSMO” is an ISMS establishment and management tool designed to streamline risk assessment processes such as risk analysis of information assets and risk evaluation along with the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) cycle within ISMS.

The latest version of M@gicPolicyCoSMO performs data load distribution and reduces processing time down to 1/30th of previous versions, enabling implementation into large organizations. Also, configuration of access privileges has been improved to enable and reflect configuration for multiple layers within hierarchical organizations such as large organizations or group companies.

To meet the needs of existing users, the attachment functionality for external documents has been expanded and it is now possible to attach documents related to actions such as risk countermeasures, incident handling and internal audits etc. to “M@gicPolicyCoSMO”. This in turn allows for ISMS related documentation to be stored and uniformly managed within “M@gicPolicyCoSMO”. It is generally necessary to prepare large amounts of documentation when undergoing certification reviews or renewal/extension reviews, collating such documents in a meeting room etc. and performing the reviews there but “M@gicPolicyCoSMO” now enables all of this to be performed on one screen.

In this way, “M@gicPolicyCoSMO” reduces the amount of time that personnel in charge of information security management need to put into maintaining and organizing records and allows them to perform other activities to both increase employee awareness regarding security and evaluate new security measures to raise the overall security level of the organization.

Currently, ISMS/IEC27001：2005 is undergoing revision. Asgent plans to release a new version of “M@gicPolicyCoSMO” to meet the finalized and released revisions to this standard.
