Asgent Announces Start of Roll Out for Security Service Business Greatly Expanded Service Domain/Content, New “SecurityPlus™” Brand

Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions, announces the full scale development and expansion of the existing security service domain to cover services designed to deal with cyber threats such as targeted attacks, which are growing as a persistent threat on a day to day basis. Asgents security services will be expanded and reorganized to incorporate the new (SecurityPlus™) brand and provide the highest level of service at a reasonable price.

Since inception, Asgent has had a proven track record and has gained much knowhow as a specialized security company through performing security consulting and auditing for various organizations such as major financial institutions, insurance companies, securities companies and data centers. Asgent has also gained a high reputation among both SIers and end users for both deployment of security devices into and technical support for primarily enterprise and government institutions. Asgent is also involved in awareness building, training and committee activities both domestically and abroad to establish global security standards. For example, with regards to the ISMS Compliance Evaluation System (ISO/IEC 27001), Asgent was the first to begin and develop certified training from the British BSi institute and has worked tirelessly to establish the ISMS Compliance Evaluation System based on BS7799 in cooperation with related government offices and affiliated organizations.

“SecurityPlus” was developed with the goal to bring together the security knowhow that Asgent has obtained over the years to provide an environment where corporations can perform their economic activities safely and in comfort of mind. “SecurityPlus” has a varied and flexible service portfolio that meets the needs of companies of all sizes, from large enterprise to mid and small size companies.

In the future, Asgent will provide various integrated services in addition to the “SecurityPlus Managed Security Service”, including penetration testing and services for handling targeted attacks etc.

The various services within “SecurityPlus” will be provided to end users primarily through existing sales partners for Asgent security products and security consulting.

【SecurityPlus Managed Security Service】

There have been many daily news reports over the past few years regarding the loss of confidential information from illegal access, defacing of web sites and cyber-attacks that inhibit corporate business activities. In order to defend against these cyber-attacks, maintenance of deployed security devices and optimal operations monitoring (log analysis, appropriate issue resolution) is essential. In order to provide this though requires always possessing the latest security knowledge. Therefore, it is very difficult for those companies without a dedicated administrator to maintain high security levels within their own company.

“SecurityPlus Managed Security Service”, the first step in Asgents new “SecurityPlus” brand, provides 24/365 operations monitoring by Asgent Monitoring Center analysts on end user security devices and enables for correlation analysis in case of a security incident with a detailed report of the incident and proposals for security measures to be taken. Also, security settings that take into consideration the end users environment from a performance and security viewpoint based on preliminary hearings are applied to the monitored device. In addition, a diagnostic report on the end users security situation with recommended security measures is provided regularly. By implementing these services, it is possible for even the smallest end user to manage their security as if there were a dedicated security administrator in-house.

This service has 3 main features.

• Highest level of service at a reasonable price

  The most important element in maintaining security is understanding and analyzing what has happened in a security event. Through effective analysis, it is possible to change the security rules on devices and take other necessary security actions. By providing services with Asgents knowhow, it is possible for the end user to gain the highest level of service. In addition, Asgent is working to provide the most reasonable prices in the market, with the UTM managed service at \74,000/month, 30-50% lower than traditional market prices(*1).

• Multivendor, Multicategory

  Most companies already have a wide range of security devices deployed. Asgent is able to flexibly support end user needs by providing services for various vendors and categories not limited to those that Asgent sells (Check Point Software Technologies, Fortinet etc.). Currently, Asgent provides UTM and IPS services for Palo Alto Networks, Juniper Networks and Hewlett Packard etc. These services will be expanded in the future to meet end user needs.

• Strong expertise through overseas ties

  Asgent, as a specialized security company, has been involved in many different committee activities, training and awareness building both in Japan and overseas. In addition, Asgent CEO Takahiro Sugimoto and Security Center Fellow Akihiko Komase have strong ties with overseas security vendors and were the first to bring security products such as the firewall and RSA1024bit encryption etc. to the Japan market. Asgent differentiates itself from other security companies by using these strengths and strong communication ties with overseas security experts to provide advisory functions etc.

“SecurityPlus Managed Security Service” will begin operation on March 28, 2013. Service fee starts at ¥74,000/month (UTM products). Initial sales target is 100 million yen in the first year, with a target of 1 billion yen for 3 years later.
