Asgent, Inc. (JASDAQ: 4288, President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions, announces that the file sanitization solution VOTIRO "Secure Data Sanitization"(VOTIRO SDS) sold by Asgent has, as of December 31, 2016, been deployed in 33 prefectures at either a prefectural or municipality level as a file sanitization solution to strengthen information security in regional public entities. In addition, the number of deployments is continuing to increase.

"File sanitization" is a keyword in both "Municipality Information Security Cloud Construction" and "Municipality Information System Strengthening Model", which are part of a supplementary budget by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication, to strengthen information security in regional public entities nationwide. Along with the information leak from the Japan Pension Service in June 2015, damage from information leaks as a result of attached files with malware inside, sent as targeted attacks, being opened is continuously increasing. It is also expected that the importance of measures to deal with such targeted attacks will increase as the 2020 Tokyo Olympics grow nearer.

VOTIRO SDS focuses on the "possibility" that there may be malware inside a file, and sanitizes all files coming into the organization from external sources. Generally, exploits (scripts or programs that use vulnerabilities to attack) and malware reside in file metadata, empty bit space and macros etc., so the solution checks this data and sanitizes by removing any unnecessary data section or rewriting with unintelligible information. This functionality has gained wide respect, with many regional public entities considering the solution for deployment, and 33 prefectures actually deploying at either a prefectural or municipality level.

Asgent will continue to collaborate with SIers and other partners to further promote VOTIRO SDS in the market with the goal of obtaining deployment central government agencies and educational institutions, along with corporate customers.
