Asgent, Inc. (JASDAQ: 4288, President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions, announces that the "Secure Data Sanitization" product from Votiro, distributed by Asgent, has as of February 28 been adopted in 41 prefectures or their municipalities.
This adoption is to achieve the file sanitization objectives behind the "Municipal Information Security Cloud Construction" and "Municipal Information System Strengthening Model", and has increased in 8 prefectures since December 2016 (33 prefectures), with more prefectures expected to adopt the product in the future.

VOTIRO SDS focuses on the "possibility" that there may be malware inside a file, and sanitizes all files coming into the organization from external sources. Generally, exploits (scripts or programs that use vulnerabilities to attack) and malware reside in file metadata, empty bit space and macros etc., so the solution checks this data and sanitizes by removing any unnecessary data section or rewriting with unintelligible information. Because all targeted files are sanitized regardless of their maliciousness, it is possible to protect against unknown attacks that have no relevant signatures, as well as relieve the organization from the need to renew patterns and face false positives. In other words, by sanitizing all files brought into the organization, data leaks from sophisticated targeted attacks can be prevented.

Asgent will continue to collaborate with SIers and other partners to further promote VOTIRO SDS in the market with the goal of obtaining deployment central government agencies and educational institutions, along with corporate customers.
