May 22, 2018
Asgent, Inc.
(JASDAQ: 4288)

Asgent, Inc. (JASDAQ: 4288, President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions, announces the signing of a distributor agreement with Ironscales Ltd. (CEO & Co-Founder: Eyal Benishti, located in Israel) and the start of sales for the anti-phishing solution "IRONSCALES"”.
Ironscales´ technology has been highly recognized, and selected from many startups to join the Microsoft Scale Up Program, under which Microsoft co-sells the product overseas.

[Background]
Recently, damages from "Business Email Fraud" are expanding in which attackers send emails to recipients by impersonating business partners or management, and as a result of which large damages were reported domestically at the end of last year. Rather than attempt to infect by malware implanted in URLs or attached files in emails, damages in the millions to hundreds of millions of Yen are occurring as a result of attacks using social engineering.
These types of advanced phishing emails cannot be detected by current antispam products, and slip through existing email security even in large organizations assumed to have sufficient security measures in place, to arrive at the employee´s mailbox. Also, as the email content is personalized to the recipient, it is difficult for the person receiving the email to detect it by just being cautious, with the result that the phishing email remains along with the risks it poses in the employee´s mailbox without anyone noticing.
In addition, because there is a large difference in security awareness from person to person, if phishing emails arrive at multiple persons´ mailboxes in the organization, even if someone were to alert the administrator, it is difficult to completely remove similar phishing emails from all recipients’ mailboxes. In the meantime, if even just one person were to open an attachment or click on a URL, damage would be incurred.
The following mechanism is necessary to protect companies from this type of damage caused by phishing emails.
1. Detect advanced impersonated emails customized to the individual
2. Report/analyze detected phishing emails
3. Quarantine similar phishing emails from all employees´ mailboxes

[Industry first machine learning and automated remediation on mailbox level]
IRONSCALES can not only detect personalized advanced impersonated emails using machine learning, it is also an anti-phishing platform capable of informing all members in the organization of phishing emails and quarantining them from mailboxes. While many anti-phishing products monitor on the gateway level, IRONSCALES uses machine learning to learn email traffic on personal mailboxes. By doing so, it is possible to not only scan URLs and attached files inside emails, but also detect "impersonation" based on the trend of how the individual recipient uses email.
For example, it is possible to detect evidence of impersonation such as the fact that while an email may seem innocuous and may be coming from a sender that the recipient commonly deals with, it is being sent from an email server that is different to normal, and so an alert can be shown on the screen to draw the user’s attention. Also, when an employee discovers a phishing email, they can report/analyze it with one click using the IRONSCALES report functionality. As the product integrates with Office365 and Gmail using an API, there is also the merit of not needing to change the MX record when implementing.

IRONSCALES is comprised on four modules, the functionality of which is described below.

- IronSights
Analyzes personal mailbox behavior using machine learning algorithm and protects employees from advances phishing emails such as business email fraud.

- IronTraps
Provides a "one click" reporting function for reporting phishing emails.
Scans the URL and attached files in the email and quarantines it from the user’s mailbox when malicious content is contained. Phishing emails are grouped by algorithm, and the user is protected from the phishing email group.

- Federation
Anonymized phishing email intelligence is shared based on phishing emails reported by organizations using IRONSCALES. Through intelligence sharing, other organizations can take proactive protections against similar phishing emails before they are received.

- IronSchool
Using this phishing simulation tool, the employees´ security awareness can be visualized. By performing tests, it is possible to check not only employees´ education status but also their security awareness and skills. The simulation results are scored as awareness levels, which is used to weight the judgment on phishing emails when the employees report a phishing email.

[Awards and track record]
Ironscales has been chosen as a finalist in the 2017 Cyber Defense Magazine Messaging Security Solution division, the SC Awards 2017 Email Security Solution division and the Cybersecurity Excellence Awards Best Cybersecurity Startup division. Also, it has been chosen this year as a finalist in the SC Awards 2018 Best Emerging Technology division.
