Asgent´s Connected Car Security Partner Karamba Announces Integration with Micron
- Utilizing Micron Authenta technology to strengthen ECU and CAN bus -

June 7, 2018
Asgent, Inc.
(JASDAQ: 4288)

Asgent, Inc. (JASDAQ: 4288, President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions, announces that the connected car security partner Karamba Security Ltd. (CEO & Co-founder: Ami Dotan) , the developer of the security product "Carwall" for which Asgent distributes to Japanese companies including automakers and peripheral suppliers, has announced an industry collaboration with Micron Technology, Inc. in order to utilize Micron® Authenta™ security architecture for Karamba solutions.
This collaboration will enable provision of a higher level of embedded security solutions than was previously available in traditional automobile architectures.

【Micron and Karamba Technology Integration】
The technology integration between Micron Technology, Inc. (President & CEO: Sanjay Mehrotra, located in the US) and Karamba will utilize Micron´s Authenta-supported flash memory and industry standard cryptographic primitives. When Karamba automatically creates a security policy for run-time integrity validation and binary whitelists, it leverages the Authenta-enabled flash memory device to attest to the integrity of these critical elements through authenticated commands and cryptographic measurements. This advanced implementation provides a higher level of security while keeping the performance level the industry has come to expect from Karamba hardening solutions. The benefits of this technology integration include the following.

-  Out-of-the-box integration between Karamba end-to-end protection and Authenta security architecture
-  Higher level of security while maintaining 100% of Karamba’s software real-time prevention capabilities against zero-day exploits
-  Zero false positives feature; no lengthy process of detect-investigate-response for critical attacks
-  Seamless and fast integration into any ECU code, without developer intervention, avoiding time-to-market delays
-  Trustworthiness of critical code and policy data based on silicon roots of trust and built-in measurements in Authenta-enabled flash devices
-  Security hardening leveraging flash memory - a socket that already exists in all main automotive electronic platforms - eliminating need to add additional hardware components for security and reducing architectural fragmentation

Karamba CEO & Co-founder Ami Dotan had the following comment on this integration. "Micron is a leading provider in the connected car ecosystem. When looking at the emerging autonomous vehicle architecture we all know security needs to be enhanced. We are proud to join forces with Micron to improve out of the box security when hardening crucial in-vehicle units to ensure consumer safety."

Also, Giorgio Scuro, vice president of the Automotive Division at Micron made the following comment. "Cybersecurity has become a critical concern for our automotive customers as the market transitions to the era of connected vehicles and emerging autonomous vehicles. Cybersecurity issues are complex and require a combination of hardware and software technologies to be closely integrated to simplify implementation, adoption and solution hardening. We are pleased to team with Karamba, who has a strong fit with our Authenta security ecosystem, and who shares our vision of simplifying adoption of enhanced security solutions by our customers."

[Karamba Security]
Karamba Security´s autonomous security products "Carwall" and "IoTwall" prevent cyber-attacks against connected cars and IoT devices. The security configuration is implemented into the ECU itself during the manufacturing process. This allows for attacks to be prevented without the need for signature updates. Also, as the solution automatically learns the factory settings, it is able to automatically create a security policy to detect and prevent any behavior that does not match those settings. This enables for zero day attack prevention in real-time across the lifecycle of the protected products. In addition, these security functions are not limited to the automotive industry, but the architecture can also be applied to IoT, medical instruments and drones’ etc. controllers. In recognizing this product concept, it has been awarded the Best Practices Award in New Product Innovation for the Automotive Industry by Frost & Sullivan, selected as a Forbes Israel 2016 Top10 Security Venture etc. and is receiving a lot of attention for its advanced technology.
