June 14, 2018
Asgent, Inc.
(JASDAQ: 4288)

Asgent, Inc. (JASDAQ: 4288, President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions, announces the start of the Arxan Threat Analytics service to "visualize application threats", in collaboration with the mobile cracking prevention solution from Arxan Technologies, Inc., (CEO: Joe Sander, located in the US), to which Asgent is a strategic distributor.

[Background]
With the spread of mobile payments and the rise of connected cars, there is an increase in the number of functions being provided via mobile application. On the other hand, security incidents that are a result of a lack of security measures in place in applications distributed widely amongst users cause a negative effect on revenue, damage brands and lead to a lack of trust in customers, and can have a devastating effect on corporations. Therefore, at the same time that mobile application developers are looking to defend against cracking and provide secure applications to their users, it is vital to be able to recognize if that application is being executed securely, is being operated in a dangerous environment or is under attack, and be able to take appropriate actions.

[Mobile Application Threat Analysis Service]
"Arxan´s Threat Analytics service "visualizes" the circumstances in which an attack against an application such as a mobile payment or smart-key application distributed by a company is being performed. This service incorporates with Arxan´s multilayer application protection and detects application cracking in real-time. By understanding "who, how and where" the attack is occurring as well as the country or region, time, frequency etc. on the day that the application attack occurs, it is possible to provide unparalleled threat information and the most comprehensive application protection solution in the market to companies. Also, by responding directly*1 to the "visualized" attacks, it is possible to prevent damage from occurring. "Our Threat Analytics service "visualizes" how attacks on applications are occurring and how they are trending. Based on this information, by reducing the opportunity for attacks with appropriate response, it is possible to take proactive action against threats. The Threat Analytics service is an essential service for enterprise application protection", says Arxan CEO Joe Sander.
"When the Threat Analytics service is deployed on the over 1 billion applications that Arxan already protects, Arxan is able to understand the global application threat situation through threat trends and analytics results by the type of application, industry and region. Before each company deploys an application, it is possible for configure security measures intelligently based on consideration of regional characteristics and attack trends in order to proactively avoid business risk. Arxan product management vice president Rusty Carter made the following comment. "Arxan Threat Analytics is supported by threat data and analysis results from actual applications protected by Arxan. Massive amounts of daily collected attack process information are combined with our expert security research to both visualize application threats and provide effective defenses."

*1 For example, in the case of mobile banking, stopping a particular users service at the server side. When a cracked application is distributed, the incorporated multilayer application protection strength is increased and the application is updated.
