(OTC No. 4288)
Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro (Shuji) Sugimoto, Located in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in security solutions, announces the release on February 23rd of a new branch office-oriented next generation practical IP telephony appliance, the "Applico SIP RTC Switch ASA280", developed jointly with Applico Security, Inc. (President: Arun Kant, Located in U.S.A.).
The release of the ASA280 completes the "Applico SIP RTC Switch" lineup, with a range of products covering the needs of large enterprises (ASA3800), smaller enterprises (ASA800) and now branch offices (ASA280).
The VoIP service market is currently undergoing rapid expansion. In a survey conducted by IDC Japan, the Japanese domestic VoIP service market is expected to grow from an estimated 3.1 billion yen in 2002 to 720 billion yen in 2007. In the past, VoIP has received a lot of attention through the use of IP telephony to reduce communication costs but in the future high added value through network convergence, which is where the true utility value of VoIP lies, will be increasingly sought after. At present, many companies use instant messaging (IM), teleconferencing and application sharing in order to improve operational efficiency or to operate new services etc. However the fact remains that there are still a lot of problems to be resolved, such as firewall NAT traversal, maintenance of real-time streaming quality in an increasingly congested Internet environment and ensuring system security.
Asgent has begun sales of the next generation IP telephony appliance "Applico SIP RTC Switch" Enterprise model (ASA3800) and Mid-range model (ASA880). The "Applico SIP RTC Switch" solves the problem of voice quality and security, two matters of concern when using VoIP over the Internet. It is also the world's first next generation IP telephony appliance to support Real-time Communications (RTC) such as presence, applications and video using multi-streaming technology. It has also already been adopted by and is actually operating at companies such as Neptune Orient Lines (Singapore), Telecom One (Korea), VIETEL (Vietnam) and Sun Chlorella (Japan).
The newly released "ASA280" is designed for branch offices. By setting up the "ASA3800" or "ASA880" in the head office and placing the "ASA280" in the branch office, it is possible to realize the full potential of QoS technology, a feature characteristic of the "Applico SIP RTC Switch". Also, as with other series, it supports n:n NAT traversal and encryption technology such as VPN, PPTP and TLS, allowing for secure communications.
The recommended sales price for the "Applico SIP RTC Switch ASA280" is 980,000 yen, with a maximum of 1000 user registrations and a capacity for a maximum of 400 concurrent sessions.
