Asgent,Inc.
Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro (Shuji) Sugimoto, located in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in security solutions, announces the start of sales on June 2, 2004 of the “FV905” and “FV980”, both VPN-1/Firewall-1 appliances from Celestix Networks (CEO: Jim Hanley).
Asgent has been selling the VPN-1/FireWall-1firewall appliance “FV931” and management server “931-M” since December 2002, and looks to strengthen the Celestix FV Series lineup and expand sales with this release.
The "FV905" is aimed at small businesses, with an affordable price and simple chassis including only 10/100Base-T Ethernet ports. On the other hand, the “FV931” and “FV980” are high-end models with increased performance and number of interfaces, including a maximum of 8 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet ports, making them effective options for high-end users. Moreover, because they come equipped with VPN Acceleration cards, there is no noticeable deterioration in encrypted communication performance.
Both models come equipped with HA functionality, with multiple monitoring methods including NIC failure monitoring, VPN-1/FireWall-1 process monitoring, CPU utilization monitoring etc., which in turn enables stable operation. Also, the LCD front panel and jog dial, characteristic to the Celestix FV series make time-consuming setup and management much easier. For example, no special console is needed when installing the appliances as IP addresses can easily be allocated using the jog dial. Also, the operating status (free disk space, CPU utilization) can be displayed and system shutdown performed. The web-based interface can be used to perform installations, upgrades and backup-restore from a remote location.
The Celestix FV series has exceptional cost performance and compared with competing appliances of equivalent performance can reduce costs by approximately 30%. Asgent is selling the “FV905” as an entry-level model for new users and the “FV980” as a replacement model for existing VPN-1/FireWall- 1 users who want increased performance.
