Asgent Announces POP3 Proxy Functionality for Antispam Security Appliance “PineApp Mail-SeCure”

Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in security solutions, today announces the release of an upgrade and new functionality to “PineApp Mail-SeCure” , an antispam security appliance developed by PineApp Ltd. (Israel: CEO Hezi Erez).

■ Background

Today, there is more and more emphasis being placed on solutions for nuisance e-mail such as spam and phishing e-mail etc. as an essential part of e-mail security. This is because the ever increasing amount of nuisance e-mail not only increases the chances of an organization being faced with the threat of a virus but also the reality that deleting spam e-mail takes time and that accidentally deleting business-related e-mail reduces business efficiency.

It is with these issues in mind that Asgent began sales in June 2006 of “PineApp Mail-SeCure”, an antispam e-mail appliance developed by PineApp Ltd. PineApp Mail-SeCure is an e-mail security appliance that performs composite checks on e-mail using 10 antispam filters and 3 antivirus engines, and has received critical acclaim for its many features including built-in load balancing and Commtouch RPD technology, which enables real-time detection of spam at the earliest stages.

The latest update to PineApp Mail-SeCure provides the addition of POP3 proxy functionality, which enables small to medium sized companies, whose mail servers are managed by hosting providers, to perform effective e-mail filtering. Installation is easy, with the only requirements being a small change in the e-mail settings on each client and no change to the e-mail server.
Another addition in the new update is OPSEC support, which makes it possible to integrate PineApp Mail-SeCure with Check Point Software Technologies’ gateway security product VPN-1 to block spam e-mail.
