SecuAvail, Asgent to Collaborate in Mail Security Market

SecuAvail Inc. According to research conducted by impress in FY2008, 61.4% of internet users report having received spam e-mail （Internet White Paper 2007 cimpress R&D, 2007）, and the majority of these people will end up using valuable work hours to filter through incoming e-mail in order to retrieve non-spam e-mail. To put this into real-world terms, if 1000 employees were to use 10 minutes a day to filter spam from regular e-mail, this would result in 40,000 work hours a year just filtering out spam. If the average hourly wage is assumed to be \2,000, this amounts to an annual loss of 80 million yen. Also, spam is not only advertising; fraudulent phishing e-mail and e-mail with viruses etc. attached also make up a very large part of total spam e-mail, and spam can also be used as a trigger to trick users into downloading malware.
Therefore, antispam e-mail solutions are fast becoming vital for organizations from both a cost and security point of view. However, there are still many organizations that want to but are unable to implement such solutions because they do not possess the appropriate information security technicians.

With this background in mind, SecuAvail and Asgent announce they will collaborate in the mail security market. SecuAvail will begin sales of “PineApp Mail-SeCure”, an antispam mail appliance sold by Asgent, and will also provide “NetStare AntiSpam” services including operational management for organizations lacking necessary technicians. In turn, Asgent will sell PineApp Mail-SeCure to SecuAvail and provide technical support, as well as selling services provided by SecuAvail.
“PineApp Mail-SeCure” is an antispam mail appliance with over ten antispam engines including the Commtouch engine, which boasts a false detection rate of 1 in 27,900 (Osterman Research), and three antivirus engines. By combining these engines, it is possible to realize and maintain high detection rates for both spam and virus-laden e-mail.
“NetStare AntiSpam” comprises four services including operation monitoring, operation management, advisory and reporting services. Security engineers with specialized and independent security training act on behalf of the organization’s system administrator to perform operation management such as health checks, configuration changes to black/white lists and configuration file backups. Also, each customer is provided with their own web portal site, allowing the customer to view the results of operation monitoring and various reports at any time 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The products and services provided by SecuAvail and Asgent provide customers with a manageable e-mail environment, without the concerns of day to day configuration and management.
