Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in security solutions, today announces the start of sales for “IPScan XE”, a new version of signing of the IP address management solution “IPScan” developed by ViaScope Inc. (Korea).

Many organizations now forbid employees to bring their own personal PCs or any other unpermitted PCs into the company because of security risks such as viruses being brought into the internal network or the employee’s PC being the cause of internal information leaks. However, finding unauthorized PCs among the hundreds of PCs in the company as well as recording and managing all the IP addresses in an Excel ledger are both very cumbersome tasks, and can lead to mismanagement where conflicts occur between IP addresses. “IPScan” automatically collects information regarding all of the IP and MAC addresses in the network automatically and allows the network administrator to easily manage IP address usage and block access to the network from unauthorized IP and MAC addresses.

The latest version of the IPScan management software includes an increase in the number of IP addresses that can be managed, as well as identical IP range management, Probe (monitoring device) grouping and the ability to import information from Active Directory databases, which are essential for large enterprise networks. These new functionalities also make it easier for ASPs to use IPScan as part of their managed services.

Also, the product list price has been reduced by half, allowing for more economical network deployment.

(1) Increase in manageable IP addresses

Increased performance and the ability to manage up to 400,000 IP addresses.

(2) Identical IP range management

Previously, in cases where two identical IP ranges existed, only one of them could be managed, which was a barrier to ASP managed services. “IPScan XE” solves this problem by providing the ability to manage multiple users in identical IP address ranges.

(3) Probe grouping

Previously, it was only possible to either apply global rules on multiple Probe units or apply rules on individual units, but the new version provides the ability to group Probes under logical groups and apply rules to these groups instead. In addition, when a PC located under one Probe within a logical group moves to a subnet managed by another Probe within the same logical group, the user no longer has to request permission in advance from the network administrator.

(4) Active Directory support

By importing user ID and relative IP address information from Active Directory into IPScan XE, it is now much easier for the administrator to determine which user is using a PC with a particular IP address.

(5) Standardization of switch port functionality

Switch port functionality, previously provided as an option to IPScan is now standard with the IPScan XE product. This functionality enables users to retrieve port information from switching hubs that support SNMP and also empty port information for servers and clients.

Product Outline :

“IPScan” is an IP/MAC address management solution that automatically collects information regarding all of the IP and MAC addresses in the network automatically and allows the network administrator to detect unauthorized personal and illegally connected PCs and block them from the network. The network address ledger is updated in real-time, making it is easy to see which IP addresses are being used and which are not in use. Moreover, by protecting important IP addresses used for routers, file servers and printers, conflicts with PCs or other devices can be avoided, providing a more stable and safe network environment.
