Asgent Announces Start of Sales, Support for HP Operational Management Solution

Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in security solutions, today announces the start of sales for “HP Operations Manager software” (below, Operations Manager) and “HP Network Node Manager software” (below, Network Node Manager) developed by Hewlett-Packard Japan, Ltd. (President and Representative Director: Shinichi Koide, located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo).

■ Background

Asgent has been one of Japan’s leading distributors of the server monitoring tool “HP SiteScope software” (below, SiteScope) (*1) since 1999. SiteScope is an agentless monitoring tool that performs real-time monitoring of networks, applications etc., is currently deployed in hundreds of corporations and datacenters and has highly reputed technical support.
In contrast, with an increasing focus on operational “visibility”, monitoring requirements have become more complicated and the use of integrated consoles that combine agentless server monitoring with agent-based advanced server and network monitoring have become more commonplace. Issues remain however regarding the most appropriate deployment method of these complex integrated operation management tools and providing rapid support response once in the operational phase.

Asgent has made the decision to start sales of “Operations Manager”, the industry standard HP integrated console and the network monitoring tool “Network Node Manager” based on the experience in deployment of operation monitoring and technical support for SiteScope cultivated over the last 10 years. By providing high quality deployment assistance and support structure, Asgent is able to combine their domestically highly reputed sales and support structure with globally recognized HP operational monitoring software to further meet the diversified operational management needs of Japanese customers.

■ About Operations Manager, Network Node Manager

Operations Manager is an integrated solution for unified management of the entire system on one console screen and reliable, effective system-wide event management. By installing agent software on the server to be monitored, it is possible to perform various monitoring functions such as CPU utilization, process monitoring and event log checks. In contrast, the Network Node Manager is a tool for configuration management fault administration and performance management. Network devices are automatically detected and shown as a graphical network topology. Also, an SNMP agent collects MIB data from network devices, shows the performance of each device in real-time and can send alerts when a threshold is breached. Users with Operations Manager installed can collate and manage the information from Network Node Manager and SiteScope on one console screen.

With the start of sales for these two products, Asgent is aiming for an annual sales objective of 400 million yen by FY2011 for HP products alone.

Product Outline ：

A tool for configuration management fault administration and performance management.

Configuration Management ： automatic detection of network devices and graphical display as network topology.

Fault Administration ： Constant network monitoring and automatic notification in case of fault or breach of predetermined threshold.

Performance Management ： Collation of MIB information from network devices, real-time display of device performance and alert notification in case of threshold breach.
