Asgent Announces Start of Sales for ShadowProtect Ver.3.5

- Support for Windows 7, Introduction of MSP Partner Program -

Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in security solutions, announces the start of sales for “ShadowProtect Ver.3.5”, which now supports Windows 7, and is part of the popular “ShadowProtect” lineup of image-based system backup software developed by StorageCraft Technology Corporation (USA). Agent also announces the introduction of an MSP Partner Program for service providers.

ShadowProtect is an image-based backup software solution that creates a backup of the entire system, including the OS, applications, data etc. The image backup engine transfers and saves disk data in the original bit-string format rather than as individual files, so it is possible to recover a system quickly and reliably simply by restoring the disk to its original state.

Using the same method, it is also possible to restore a system to different hardware models, virtual environments, from a physical server to a virtual server (P2V) and between virtual servers (V2V), as well as from a virtual server to a physical server (V2P). ShadowProtect supports many virtual environments including VMware ESX, Microsoft Hyper-V and Citrix XenServer, and is used widely as a migration tool for virtual environments.

ShadowProtect Ver.3.5 provides support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Windows 7 is receiving a lot of attention as the next version of Microsoft Windows for PCs, while support for Windows Server 2008 R2 allows image backups utilizing Microsoft’s latest virtualization technology “Hyper-V 2.0”.

Moreover, Ver.3.5 has many functional improvements, such as providing users with the option to write zero data to unreadable sectors in order to backup hard disks which may be failing, support for Japanese language input in the ShadowProtect Recovery Environment (specialized GUI for booting from the ShadowProtect CD) and mail notification improvements.

Asgent will also start providing the MSP (Managed Service Provider) Partner Program from Ver.3.5 for the first time in Japan. This program is already available in the US market to provide Server Edition and Desktop Edition licenses to MSP service providers, allowing them to provide data backup services to their customers on a monthly subscription base. In turn, small to medium size businesses have the opportunity to backup vital business applications without the large costs normally associated with implementing backup software in their corporate environments.
