Asgent Announces Managed Service Utilizing Check Point UTM-1, a First for Japan

(President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions, announces the start of managed services utilizing the UTM appliance “UTM-1” from Check Point Software Technologies (Japan) Ltd. (President: Ken Fujioka, located in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo).

From its inception in 1997, Asgent has developed a business focused on providing security and operations management solutions along with security consultation (security policy formulation and consulting related to ISMS certification etc.). However, as attack methods become more diversified the threat to security grows year by year, creating a need for users to stay knowledgeable about the latest security and network trends in order to maintain network security. As a result, sustaining a sufficient security level has become a true headache for companies without a dedicated Operations Manager.

With a mind to resolve these problems, Asgent announces the start of service on October 1st of the “Asgent Managed Service for UTM-1”, a total package including the appliance (UTM-1), onsite maintenance, operation monitoring, operations management, fault resolution, log analysis, security incident reporting and resolution, charged on a monthly basis. This is also the first service in Japan to provide a total package covering provision of the UTM-1 appliance through operations management.
This service utilizes the Check Point UTM-1 appliance, which possesses industry-leading firewall functionality along with flexibility and scalability. Security engineers at Asgents Operations Management Center monitor the UTM appliance operating status 24/365, and perform all necessary steps in the case of a failure to achieve rapid recovery of the appliance. Moreover, in the case a security incident occurs, the end user will be informed of the event (attack) details and a resolution proposal will be provided within 4 hours, and UTM-1 configuration changes will be performed according to the end users requirements.

■Service Details
・UTM Appliance
Preconfigured UTM-1 will be rented to customers. Available appliances are UTM-1 272 (FW throughput 1.5Gbps) and UTM-1 3075 (FW throughput 4.5Gbps).
・Onsite mainte
Nationwide 24/365 onsite maintenance service. Appliances will be replaced in case of failure.
・Operations monitoring / Fault resolution
UTM-1 operating status will be monitored 24/365 at Asgent Operations Management Center. In case of failure, onsite maintenance to recovery will be performed by security engineers.
・Resource log analysis / reporting
UTM-1 logs will be collated and stored. If an anomaly is discovered, the end user will be notified with a fault report. The end user is able to see the UTM-1 operating status (CPU utilization, traffic loads etc.) in real-time via a dedicated web portal.
・System operation
UTM-1 configuration changes will be performed remotely when necessary.
・Security log analysis / reporting
Reports selected as necessary to maintain security level will be provided.
・Security operation (option)
Includes IPS engine tuning. In the case a security incident occurs, event (attack) details and a resolution proposal will be sent to the end user within 4 hours, and UTM-1 configuration changes will be made according to end user requirements.

UTM appliance with integrated security functionality including firewall, VPN, IPS, Antivirus and URL filtering. Deployment and management are easy to perform, and option licenses provide the user with the ability to add functionality such as QoS and Web Application Firewall capabilities, giving organizations the ability to easily strengthen the level of security in line with corporate growth and network expansion.
