Asgent Announces Start of Sales for UTM Appliance “FortiGate”

- Expanding product lineup with low-cost appliances for small to mid ranged customers -

Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions, announces the acquisition of Silver Partner Certification from Fortinet Inc. (CEO: Ken Xie, located in California, USA) and the start of sales for the UTM appliance “FortiGate” from December 7.

FortiGate has a wide range of UTM appliances, covering customer sizes from low end to enterprise class. Integrated ASIC processors (Network Processor for Firewall, VPN etc. and Content Processor for application level content checks such as Antivirus) provide high-performance security. Therefore, even low-range models have little performance degradation, allowing small organizations to implement multiple security measures such as Firewall and Antivirus without the need for high security costs.

FortiGate VDOM (Virtual Domain) functionality allows a single FortiGate appliance to be used as multiple virtual appliances, with 10 VDOM provided as default. This is invaluable for administrators wishing to integrate UTM appliances for each network segment without additional costs.

From its inception, Asgent has sold UTM and Firewall appliances to the enterprise market, primarily to large enterprises. FortiGate appliances, with virtual UTM functionality suited to a wide range of organizations, will enable Asgent to provide a high cost performance UTM appliance to companies. Asgent will provide 24/365 onsite maintenance and integration support services etc., the same as with Check Point UTM-1.

Asgent is expecting \300 Million in sales in the first 3 years.
