Asgent, Inc.
(JASDAQ:4288)
Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions, announces the launch of ”SecurityPlus Lab”, with the aim to strengthen countermeasures against constantly diversifying and escalating cyber-attacks.
【Background】
In recent years, the number of attacks threatening security, such as targeted attacks, information leaks from bot or malware infection and website tampering incidents, has grown at a rapid pace. These attacks are daily becoming more complex and diversified, with targeted attacks that combine IT technology and Social Engineering, as typified by phishing or other e-mails impersonating individuals, becoming more prevalent. Together with the spread of mobile devices and cloud services, changes are also needed in the way that security measures protect information assets from cyber-attacks.
【Asgent's Security Knowhow】
From inception, Asgent has gained a strong reputation from both end users and SI partners alike as a security specialist, through deployments of security appliances and providing technical support services primarily to large enterprises and government offices. In parallel, Asgent has accumulated a great deal of practical knowhow and experience through providing security consulting, auditing and Managed Security Services (MSS) etc. to various organizations including major financial institutions, government offices and data center operators. The knowhow gained there has in turn been utilized through awareness building activities towards establishing global security standards and participation in various domestic and international committees. In particular, with regards to the ISMS Compliance Appraisal System, Akihiko Komase, the new Director of the SecurityPlus Lab, has both worked to be the first to implement and develop training certified by the British BSi Group and has also led efforts to establish the ISMS Compliance Appraisal System that is based on BS7799 (now ISO/IEC 27001), in cooperation with related government agencies and extra-governmental organizations. These efforts resulted in him being awarded the “Industrial Standardization Merit Award” by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in October 2012.
【SecurityPlus Lab】
The main objective of ”SecurityPlus Lab” is to conduct security-focused investigations, research, information dissemination and personnel training, based on the security knowhow that Asgent has gained over many years.
The “SecurityPlus Lab” will not only conduct research into threats and related attack methods that have the possibility to grow widespread and unchecked in today’s world, along with technical measures to protect information assets including mobile devices and cloud environments from these threats, but will also perform investigations and research into “security” in a wider sense, including fields such as “Social Engineering”, which cannot be protected by technology alone, by positive cooperation with key figures and organizations both in Japan and overseas.
In turn, by disseminating the results of such research to the market through lectures, reports and training etc., these efforts will both contribute to strengthening security in Japan and will also give back to Asgent’s own security service (SecurityPlus™), which aims to provide the highest quality security service.
