Asgent to Host“The ‘Secure Cloud’- Security in the Cloud Era” Seminar

Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security and operations management solutions, announces it will host a seminar entitled “The ‘Secure Cloud’ - Security in the Cloud Era”, aimed at information system administrators within companies currently using cloud services and those considering using such services. The seminar will be held on March 19 (Thursday) at The Ritz-Carlton,Tokyo (Minato-ku, Tokyo). Admission is free and 300 participants are expected.

With the added choices of applications as Web services and the utilization of cloud services such as IaaS and PaaS, the convenience and efficiency of systems in both corporate and public services has been, and continues to be, dramatically improved. However, security threats such as Web defacement attacks etc. that have been reported as causing a great deal of damage have also evolved to meet these changes, and are becoming more complex.
In today’s public service and corporate systems, along with providing convenience and pursuing ever increasing effectiveness, there is also a need to protect the users’ private and confidential information from evolving threats through implementing security measures suited to the platform environment. In other words, a method of providing security measures to protect cloud environments is required that is different to the traditional approach optimized for on premise environments.

This seminar will introduce participants to security measures designed for cloud environments as well as future trends, and will provide information related to the “Secure Cloud” advocated by Asgent.

The keynote will be presented by Takuya Hirai, House of Representatives member and Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Special Mission Committee on IT Strategy, who will lecture on the Japanese government’s approach to cyber-security.
Also, LAC, Co. CTO and Cyber Grid Japan GM Itsuro Nishimoto will be speaking on the wider security service market.
Further, as more services make the move to the cloud and corporations increasingly use cloud services, considerations must be made regarding security measures, and to discuss these, we have invited Masayoshi Someya, security evangelist for Trend Micro Inc. to talk from a solution provider viewpoint, and Akihiro Umegai from Amazon Data Services Japan Inc. to talk from a cloud service provider point of view, with case studies.
From Asgent, Akihiko Komase, Director of the SecurityPlus Lab will introduce the “Secure Cloud” concept advocated by Asgent and the associated service services.
