Asgent and Trend Micro Announce Start of Collaboration on Service to Analyze and Visualize Cyber-Attacks

Asgent, Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, JASDAQ: 4288) and Trend Micro Incorporated (President & CEO: Eva Chen, located in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Tokyo Stock Exchange First Section: 4704) announce they will collaborate on analysis and visualization services for cyber-attacks, with the goal of reducing the burden on corporate security operations personnel and visualizing cyber-attacks that are constantly evolving, such as targeted attacks.

As part of this collaboration, Asgent will begin sales from June 19 of “SecurityPlus Managed Security Service for Deep Discovery Inspector” (SecurityPlus MSS for DDI), a 24/7 network monitoring and operations support service that combines Trend Micro’s “Deep Discovery Inspector”, that monitors organizations’ networks and detects threats, with a monitoring service provided by Asgent’s Security Operation Center (SOC). Service fees will begin at 410,000 Yen/Month, and Asgent expects sales of 100 Million Yen in the first year.

Cyber-attacks such as targeted attacks are constantly evolving and becoming more complex. In order protect the organization’s network from new threats, it is vital to take rapid countermeasures by both visualization of the network and early detection of attacks from signs available in logs. Trend Micro’s “Deep Discovery Inspector” is a network monitoring solution that detects network-based threats and visualizes overall network traffic. A wide range of application protocols are covered in addition to HTTP and SMTP, and overall traffic is visualized and internal threats are detected by correlative analysis on log information found using three methods (static analysis, dynamic analysis and behavior detection). On the other hand, specialized security knowledge and operational resources are necessary to monitor logs 24/7, perform analysis and detect signs of attacks, resulting in many customers wanting to strengthen their security process but needing to outsource monitoring and operations to specialist teams.

With Asgent’s “SecurityPlus MSS for DDI”, security specialist analysts within the Security Operation Center (SOC) monitor and analyze various “Deep Discovery Inspector” logs continuously and correlatively on a 24/7 basis, and alert the customer of any security event that has a high probability of being an attack or an intrusion. By utilizing “SecurityPlus MSS for DDI”, it is possible to gain the knowledge of security specialists along with 24/7 monitoring without the need for in-house SOC functionality, while also realizing the full potential of the detective abilities of “Deep Discovery Inspector”.

【Deep Discovery™ Inspector】

Deep Discovery Inspector is a network monitoring product from Trend Micro that monitors and analyses transmitted packets and e-mail attachments to detect network-based threats. It visualizes potential threats in the organization such as unauthorized behavior, infection of unpatched machines with illegal programs etc. The system administrator is able to understand attack source server information and machines that have received attacks in real-time via the management console, and is also able to take necessary actions based on periodically produced reports.

【SecurityPlus Managed Security Service for Deep Discovery™ Inspector】

Asgent monitoring center analysts monitor the customer’s “Deep Discovery Inspector” 24/7, and when a security incident is detected, will perform correlative analysis and will also provide reports on the event content and propose necessary security measures to the customer. Also, tuning of “Deep Discovery Inspector” monitoring items etc. and reports collating the incident response situation will be provided to the customer.
