Asgent Announces Start of Sales for Hysolate, Solution to Enable Running Multiple Isolated Operating Systems on a Single Device

  Asgent, Inc. (JASDAQ: 4288, President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo), a pioneer in network security, announces the signing of a distributor agreement with Hysolate Ltd. (CEO & Board Member: Marc Gaffan, located in Israel) and the start of sales for “Hysolate”, solution which enables running multiple isolated operating systems on a single client device. Asgent has been investing indirectly in Hysolate Ltd. since its startup.

[Background]
  More and more people are now working from home to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and telework is likely to become the new normal even after the COVID-19. The same level of security as working in the office must be required for telework, in every aspect, from the office network (including cloud environments) to the client devices used for working from home. Isolating the devices and network for sensitive tasks from devices and network exposed to vulnerabilities using web, mail, online meetings, without compromising usability, operability and productivity will be an effective solution.

[VDI and its Challenges]
  Nowadays, many organizations are considering using VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) which consolidate the applications and data to the servers and send only the desktop images to the client devices. But because VDI consolidate all user data to the servers, there are challenges; 1) multiple high-spec servers are required to stabilize the performance which result in high cost on implementation, 2) implementing features such as high availability for BCP requires extra effort. Also, as the number of VDI clients increase due to the growing demand for telework, issues such as connection problems caused by increasing load, latency caused by numerous simultaneous accesses are seen. There is also a problem that VDI can’t be used offline.
  VDI also faces challenges for usability, operability and productivity. There are cases that applications used on fat clients can’t be moved to VDI clients seamlessly, and problems with cut & paste are often seen.

[Hysolate Addresses These Challenges]
  Hysolate installs a hypervisor locally onto the client device, and multiple operating systems such as Windows, Linux run side-by-side locally on the device. With Hysolate, the Privileged OS used for accessing office network (including cloud environments) for sensitive tasks, can be isolated from the Corporate OS used for accessing web, mails, online meetings (such as Zoom) which is exposed to vulnerabilities from internet access. Even if the Corporate OS used for internet access gets infected by malware, the office network accessed only from the Privileged OS won’t be affected because the two operating systems are completely isolated from each other. And by refreshing the Corporate OS regularly, it can stay clean even after being infected.
  Users can switch between multiple operating systems seamlessly, and it’ foolproof. If a user accidentally tries to access the internet from the Privileged OS, it will automatically be redirected to the Corporate OS. Everything will be processed locally on the client device, so users won’t suffer from connection problems or latency like they do with VDI caused by high server loads.
  Client policies are all managed on the Management server. Access policy can be set individually for each client. And Hysolate solution is effective on offline clients.

[Use Cases]
Telework
  By isolating the Privileged OS used for accessing resources within the company from the Corporate OS used for internet access, security breach to the mission critical system through devices used for telework will be prevented. Also, data breach can be prevented by restricting operations such as copy and paste of customer data. Applications on separate operating systems can be shown together on the desktop, which increase usability and productivity.

Internet Separation of Local Government
  Deliver internet separation solution by isolating the LGWAN OS that can access LGWAN from the Internet OS used to access the internet. Users will be automatically redirected to the Internet OS on accessing the internet. There’s no need to manually switch between the operating systems, which makes the daily operations go smoothly.
