Asgent’s “MSS for Sysdig”, a managed security service cloud container security now available

April 8, 2024
Asgent, Inc.
(TSE Standard ・Code No. 4288)

Asgent, Inc. (Tokyo, Japan / President: Takahiro Sugimoto / TSE Standard 4288 / hereinafter "Asgent"), a company primarily engaged in providing security solutions, has announced the launch of "Security Plus Managed Security Service for Sysdig SaaS" (hereinafter "MSS for Sysdig"), a monitoring service for Sysdig Secure (developed by Sysdig, Inc.), an integrated security solution for cloud container environments.

[Increased use of containers and security issues]
With the acceleration of DX, the use of containers is increasing. Since containers consume less disk and memory, they reduce costs compared to virtualization technologies. Another advantage is that containers used in test environments can be migrated and used in production environments without modification, thereby avoiding problems caused by environmental factors. Gartner predicts that the percentage of enterprise applications running in container environments will increase from 5% in 2022 to 15% by 2025. And Gartner says enterprise adoption of containers will further accelerate in the future.*1
On the other hand, the use of containers also presents security challenges. Because container environments are typically complex configurations, container security measures are necessarily complex as well. All of the core components of container technology (container images, registry, orchestrators, containers, and host OS) must be secured. In addition, the entire cycle from container image creation to production operation must be protected, not to mention the infrastructure and runtime. Furthermore, to understand the whole picture of container security, system personnel need to have up-to-date security knowledge in addition to container knowledge (OS, network, orchestrators for managing containers, cloud services etc.). These factors increase the burden on the system administrator and have been an obstacle to implementing containers.

Sysdig Secure is an integrated security solution for cloud container environments to detect vulnerabilities to the entire cycle (from container image creation to production). Sysdig Secure finds vulnerable packages, libraries, and configurations by scanning images in the container registry or by performing image scanning as part of the CI/CD pipeline. Sysdig Secure is highly rated by international users, with an overall rating of 4.9 out of 5 in Gartner Peer Insights.※2

[Security Plus Managed Security Service for Sysdig]
Asgent's Security Plus Managed Security Service is a service in which the SOC monitors security devices installed on end-user systems. This service is provided 24/7/365; SOC analysts analyze security device logs in detail to rule out false alarms. The analysts then notify end users only of incidents that require action. If an analyst finds a critical incident, they immediately call the end-user to report it. They then provide end-users with recommended countermeasures. MSS Services also periodically diagnoses the end-user's security status and provides a diagnostic report with recommended security measures.
Asgent is pleased to announce the addition of Sysdig Secure※3 to its MSS monitoring product lineup and the launch of "MSS for Sysdig SaaS". MSS for Sysdig SaaS is the first of a series of measures to expand the menu of services that Asgent offers to provide integrated operational support in the field of cloud security, where demand is growing. The MSS for Sysdig SaaS service collects and analyzes Sysdig Secure logs to detect undesirable incidents such as suspicious operations performed on containers (command execution, privilege escalation, viewing or modifying confidential files, etc.) or suspicious connections to the outside world. With MSS for Sysdig SaaS, end-users have access to Asgent's "eyes of a security expert. End-users can then enjoy the benefits of Sysdig's container security capabilities to achieve a high level of security measures and focus on their core business with peace of mind.

Phil Williams, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development at Sysdig, Inc. comments on the release of MSS for Sysdig SaaS, “We are pleased to announce that Sysdig has been selected as a new container security offering for Asgent's SOC service, Security Plus Managed Security Services. As enterprises move to complex container environments, they need a security approach that adapts to the complexity of containers. Customers around the world trust Sysdig to stop attacks on containers in real time and prioritize high severity security incidents. We look forward to Asgent's offering of MSS for Sysdig SaaS to the Japanese market to help address the security challenges of container utilization."
