Launch of a Browser Security Service for Secure SaaS Usage Modular Delivery of the SecureLayer Browser Extension by Function

  Asgent Inc. (President & CEO: Takahiro Sugimoto, Tokyo), a provider security solution, will begin offering the browser security solution “SecureLayer Browser Extension” (hereinafter referred to as SecureLayer, developed by LayerX Security Ltd., ^*1 as a modular service through managed service providers with the goal of ensuring the secure use of SaaS.

SecureLayer is a next-generation browser security solution designed to mitigate browser-based security risks associated with SaaS expansion - such as unauthorized access resulting from ID and password leaks, malware infections, and data breaches due to the uploading of confidential information. By simply installing a plugin on familiar browsers like Chrome and Edge it delivers a secure browsing environment without compromising user experience.

SecureLayer primarily offers the following security features:

• Web Application and SaaS Usage Visualization (Visualization)
  This feature visualized the SaaS applications and cloud storage utilized by employees, enabling a clear understanding of usage patterns. Consequently, it facilitates the detection of shadow IT
• Account Control and Browser Control (Authentication)
  This feature enforces controls to prevent the reuse browser security by disabling risky browser extensions and conducting version checks.
• Phishing Protection and URL Filtering (Secure Browsing)
  This feature use SI to analyze phishing and malware sites, preventing zero-day attacks. Additionally, URL filtering features enable access control by category.
• Protection of Confidential Information and Intellectual Property (DLP)
  It blocks file attachments to cloud storage and free email services, as well as prevent the copying of confidential and personal information to platforms like ChatGPT and translation sites, safeguarding against data leakage via the browser.

Asgent began offering SecureLayer in February 2024. We received numerous requests from customers who wish to initially focus on visualizing SaaS usage to assess their current situation or who already have CASB implemented and want to implement only DLP measures to prevent leakage of sensitive information to GenAI and other platforms. To address these needs, Asgent has worked closely with the developer LayerX Security Ltd. and has modularized SecureLayer’s features for the Japanese Market. Additionally, considering the current situation where many small and mid-sized customers face a shortage of digital talent, with nan relying on single or dual-role IT staff who are overwhelmed by day-to-day operations and struggle to implement security measures, the modularized service will be offered through managed service providers, who will deliver SecureLayer as a managed service. The functions for each module are as follows. By expanding contracts with managed service providers offering these modularized services, Asgent aims to grow its business among mid-sized customers.
